WHAT IS GENERAL SURGERY?
General surgeons provide comprehensive yet specific operative care to correct complications of essential body systems. The level of surgery required depends on the diagnosis and can range from basic to complex. Surgeons are trained in anatomy, intensive care, wound healing, physiology, pathology, immunology, tumor formation, pain management, shock and resuscitation. Whether an emergency or elective situation, general surgeons are disciplined to treat a wide variety of illness, disease or traumatic events.
